Man Arrested For Allegedly Posing As Woman On Dating Site With Purpose Of Luring, Robbing Men

PERRIS (CBSLA.com) — A Perris man was arrested Monday for allegedly posing as a woman on an internet-based dating site with the intention of luring men to a location to rob them.

Gary Glen House, 20, was booked on suspicion of armed robbery and attempted armed robbery in connection with a recorded series of robberies that took place in the 2800 block of Jean Marie Way.

House was identified after he allegedly attempted to rob a man at gunpoint around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to Riverside County Sheriff's officials.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, went to Jean Marie Way expecting to meet a woman for a date that had been arranged over an undisclosed website, said sheriff's Sgt. Ron Hoxmeier.

Upon arriving at the rendezvous, he was confronted by a gunman, who demanded his money and belongings, according to Hoxmeier. The victim reportedly fled without handing over anything.

A series of similar robberies have occurred in the area recently, but investigators had not been able to gather enough evidence to make an arrest until Monday.

House was arrested without incident at his residence in the 500 block of Granite View Drive, which is around the corner from where the robberies occurred. He is being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
