1 Dead, 9 Injured After Multiple Cars Collide With Big Rig On 10 Freeway In Pomona

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — A multiple vehicle crash involving a big rig and eight other vehicles reportedly killed one and temporarily closed both sides of the 10 Freeway in Pomona Monday.

The accident happened around 8:15p.m. near the Towne Ave. exit. Four vehicles were reportedly trapped underneath an apparent cargo truck hauling furniture, and four others reportedly spun out and crashed into a freeway guard rail.

The big rig caught fire and witnesses reported explosions from the truck.

One person was confirmed dead on the scene. Nine other have been injured, four critically, with two people reportedly airlifted to USC Medical Center.

The freeway remains closed on the eastbound side between Indian Hill Blvd. and Towne Ave. Westbound traffic has resumed.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
