Woman Fatally Struck In South Los Angeles Hit-And-Run

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles, authorities said.

Los Angeles police Officer Bryan Segal said the collision occurred about 12:26 a.m. at 102nd Street and Central Avenue.

Segal said the victim, identified as a woman in her mid-40s, sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

One witness, identified only as Michelle of Los Angeles, said the victim was trying to run across the street when she was struck, according to City News Service.

LAPD Capt. Brian Johnson said the suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored sedan, was heading northbound on Central Avenue when it a hit a pedestrian in the middle of the roadway.

Johnson said the vehicle continued to flee northbound.

An investigation is underway.
