'Reneesgotzip' Breaks Del Mar Record For 6 1/2 Furlongs

   DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Peter Miller-trained Reneesgotzip broke the Del Mar record for 6 1/2 furlongs Sunday, winning the Grade III $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap for fillies and mares in 1:14.48.

Reneesgotzip, ridden by Garrett Gomez, beat Winding Way by 4 1/4 lengths for her seventh victory in 12 starts. The filly broke the mark of 1:14.93 set by Carlsbad in the 2009 Rancho Bernardo, and her 6-furlong time of 1:08.18 was only 0.01 seconds slower than Euroears' record set in the 2011 Bing Crosby Stakes.

Reneesgotzip paid $2.60, $2.40 and $2.10, and earned $90,000 for owner Lanni Family Trust to push her career total to $655,460. Winding Way, the 20112 Rancho Bernardo winner, returned $5.40 and $2.80, and Sweet Marini paid $2.40 to show.

Halo Dolly won the $150,000 Solana Beach Handicap for older California-bred fillies and mares for the third consecutive year.

The 5-year-old, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and ridden by Rafael Bejarano, beat Bella Viaggia by a half-length. Halo Dolly ran a mile on the turf in 1:33.42 for her 16th victory in 32 starts. She paid $7, $3.20 and$2.40 and raised her career earnings to $861,736.

Bella Viaggia returned $3.80 and $2.80, and Unusual Hottie paid $2.20.
