City Council Committee To Debate Free WiFi For Angelenos

LOS ANGELES ( — A Los Angeles City Council committee Tuesday will discuss a motion that would give Los Angeles residents access to free wireless Internet service.

Councilman Bob Blumenfield introduced the motion last week, saying that free WiFi would benefit local government, businesses and visitors in addition to those who cannot afford it.

Currently, the city offers free WiFi at libraries. If approved, Los Angeles would be the largest municipality to offer the service.

The motion will be discussed amongst the council’s Innovation, Technology and General Services Committee.
