Caretaker Arrested For Stealing Surgical Equipment From OC Hospital

FOUNTAIN VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A Los Alamitos man Tuesday was facing charges of commercial burglary after he was arrested for stealing a large amount of surgical equipment from an Orange County hospital.

Roy Chi Wing Lung, 46, was taken into custody Sunday.

According to Fountain Valley police, Lung first began stealing surgical equipment from Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, 17100 Euclid Street, on May 19.

"The same suspect returned to the hospital on three separate occasions and removed additional property," Lt. Ken Hounsley said.

Lung entered the hospital on Aug. 11 wearing a disguise consisting of medical scrubs and a wig, police said.

A hospital employee observed Lung and notified security, which called the Fountain Valley Police Department.

The 46-year-old was arrested as he attempted to drive away from the hospital.

"A probation search was conducted at Lung's residence in the City of Los Alamitos where a large amount of surgical equipment was recovered," Lt. Hounsley said.

Lung, who works as a caretaker, is currently free on bond.
