Demolition Begins For 'Sunset La Cienega Complex' In West Hollywood

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Demolition began Monday for a hotel and entertainment complex in West Hollywood.

The Sunset La Cienega Complex will be located at 8490 and 8500 Sunset Blvd.

The "East Parcel" will house a hotel with two 10-story towers and 15,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. The "Middle Parcel" will consist of approximately 190 apartments in two 8-story residential towers and 55,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. Both buildings will have large public plazas and outdoor space.

The project has been in the works for 15 years, changing hands of different developers.

Some residents are concerned the construction will cause noise issues and traffic delays.

"They're already blocking some of the meters, you can't park here," a West Hollywood resident said. "It's just going to make it harder for everyone to find parking."

Officials say there will be short-term sidewalk and lane closures, but Sunset Boulevard is expected to remain open throughout the project.

Construction is expected to take two years.
