Woman Killed After Vehicle Slams Into Tree On 60 Freeway Off-Ramp

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a 40-something woman was killed Sunday morning after her vehicle slammed into a tree on a 60 Freeway off-ramp.

Officials said the woman's  black Ford Explorer struck the tree in East Los Angeles about 4 a.m.

A California Highway Patrol officer said the accident occurred at the Whittier Boulevard off-ramp on the eastbound side of the Pomona Freeway.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.

A green Dodge was also involved in the accident, he said. The Dodge driver was transported to East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital for treatment, Kimball said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, he said.

A SigAlert was issued, shutting down the off-ramp for the investigation and to remove the vehicles, Kimball said.
