Gas Line Restored Following Rupture Near Beverly Hills City Hall

BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A ruptured gas line at a construction site forced the evacuation of several buildings just east of Beverly Hills City Hall Wednesday.

Lt. Lincoln Hoshino of the Beverly Hills Police Department told City News Service the rupture occurred at Third Street and Foothill Road at about 3 p.m., when a construction crew using heavy excavation machinery mistakenly broke the line.

Those displaced were ordered to evacuate to the City Hall Municipal Gallery at Rexford Street.

The gas lines were restored and evacuations were called off about 6 p.m. following an inspection from officials at Southern California Gas.
