Pit Bull Fatally Shot By LAPD Detective In Reseda

RESEDA (CBSLA.com) — The fatal shooting of a pit bull by a Los Angeles police detective was under investigation Tuesday.

The shooting occurred around 7:15 p.m. Monday in the 7400 block of Calvin Avenue in Reseda, authorities said.

Authorities were in the area investigating a "use-of-force-arrest" when a detective came face-to-face with the dog and an officer-involved shooting occurred, the LAPD said.

It was unclear what prompted the detective to shoot.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests were made.
