Man With Historical Ties To Malibu Dies In Hot Air Balloon Accident

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — A member of one of Malibu's founding families died Tuesday in a hot air balloon accident in Switzerland.

Grant Adamson, 55, died when the balloon plummeted 165 feet after striking an electric power line when the pilot attempted to land it land around 8:30 a.m. near the Swiss town of Montbovon, according to Swiss media reports.

According to reports, Adamson's wife, Terry, and their two daughters, who are in their 20s, suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident.

The 65-year-old balloon pilot was seriously injured as well.

No further details were released.
