COMMERCE ( — A man was fatally struck Tuesday morning while he was walking along the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Commerce.

The accident took place around 3:46 a.m. near the Slauson Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A pedestrian was reportedly seen jogging along the center divider before he was hit, CHP said.


Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Sig Alert was issued at 3:58 a.m., and three northbound lanes were shut down until around 7:20 a.m.

The accident was under investigation by CHP. No further details were released.
