Long Beach Unveils Great Wall Of Mulch Built To Block City's Road Noise
LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Officials in Long Beach gathered Tuesday to unveil the city's so-called Great Wall of Mulch.
The wall, located in Hudson Park next to the Terminal Island Freeway, was built as a buffer between West Long Beach neighborhoods and the noisy port traffic.
It is made completely of mulch, spanning 12 feet high and 3 feet wide.
Green waste generated from routine trimmings will help replenish the structure, which city leaders say is the first of its kind in the nation.
