Vandalism Suspect Critically Injured In Pico Rivera Deputy-Involved Shooting

PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said one man was critically injured in a deputy-involved shooting in Pico Rivera.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., authorities say Pico Rivera Sheriff's deputies observed a man spray painting a wall on Rosemead Boulevard.

They, thereafter, attempted to make contact with the suspect who entered a vehicle with three other men.

"Despite orders from the deputies to stop, the vehicle drove directly at one of the deputies, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

The suspected tagger was struck in the upper torso. He was listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

A second suspect suffered minor injuries from broken glass, according to the statement. No deputies were injured.

All four men were subsequently detained, some for questioning.
