Vandalism Suspect Critically Injured In Pico Rivera Deputy-Involved Shooting

PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday said one man was critically injured in a deputy-involved shooting in Pico Rivera.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., authorities say Pico Rivera Sheriff’s deputies observed a man spray painting a wall on Rosemead Boulevard.

They, thereafter, attempted to make contact with the suspect who entered a vehicle with three other men.

“Despite orders from the deputies to stop, the vehicle drove directly at one of the deputies, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The suspected tagger was struck in the upper torso. He was listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

A second suspect suffered minor injuries from broken glass, according to the statement. No deputies were injured.

All four men were subsequently detained, some for questioning.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department-Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or Crime Stoppers” at (800) 222-TIPS for those wishing to remain anonymous.
