When deputies arrived at a home in the 2400 block of Atwood Avenue, they said they found a 29-year-old victim who sustained an undisclosed number of gunshot wounds.

Christopher Chavez was taken to a hospital where he later died, said Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Todd Torrenti.

Neighbors called 911 just after 3:35 a.m. to report screams and a disturbance in the home.

No other information was released.

Deputies asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or the sheriff's Moreno Valley station at (951) 486-6700.
