WESTMINSTER ( — Officials say a speeding motorist is in critical condition following a single-vehicle crash in Westminster.

The motorist was reportedly speeding on Bolsa Chica Road near Churchill Avenue when he lost control of the car, according to Westminster Police Sgt. Richard Mize.

The sergeant said the silver Toyota Solara struck a center median and then a palm tree. The impact of the car sheered the tree from the ground.

Mize said the Solara rolled several times before coming to rest on Bolsa Chica Road. Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 2:52 a.m.

The motorist was taken to Medical Center in Orange in critical condition. His name has not been relased.

Westminster Police asked anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them at (714) 893-3315.
