82-Year-Old Driver Crashes Her Car Through Beauty School

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say an 82-year-old driver crashed her Volkswagen Passat through a beauty school in Murrieta Saturday morning.

Louise Messer had an appointment at the school when she overshot a handicapped parking space in front of the Marinello School of Beauty on Los Alamos Road.

The crash occurred just before 9:55 a.m., according to Murrieta Police Sgt. Dave Baca.

Messer's car smashed through the school and startled as many as 20 people inside. One person fell down during the commotion but was not injured by the car, Baca said.

After complaining of pain sustained in the crash, Messer was taken to a nearby hospital. She told officers that her brakes failed, Baca said.
