Heartbroken Mom Says Thieves Stole Nintendo With Recordings Of Her Late Son’s Voice
TOLUCA WOODS (CBSLA.com) — A heartbroken mother said burglars stole a Nintendo DS that had the recorded voice of her late son.
Kristen Perkins told KCAL9’s Rachel Kim that thieves broke into her Toluca Woods home and along with other valuables, took the game system that was hidden in the corner of a large dresser drawer.
Perkins said her 7-year-old son Dylan Keith, who died three years ago after falling out of a third-story window at his family’s home, had recorded messages on the DS.
“When I get through my healings, in times, I just always hear this voice. He would say funny things. He loved to dance and sing, so he’d sing. (He would say), ‘I love you, Mom.’ So this little DS captured all his voices. And it’s gone,” she said.
In honor of her son, Perkins opened up the Dylan Keith Salon in Burbank because he inspired her to complete her life-long dream.
“He was just loving, kind, compassionate, he always had a smile on his face,” said Perkins.
The mother and a friend also started the Dylan Keith and Lorie Foundation to help educate families about window falls and children’s safety.
“Whoever did this, that little boy is with them. I don’t wish bad on them, but I hope through this, that they can have a softening of the heart and really realize that what they’re doing is not right,” said Perkins.
