Banning Hospital Worker Accused Of Stealing Patients' Wallets

BANNING (CBSLA.com) — A 30-year-old Banning hospital worker has been accused of stealing wallets and other items from patients.

Kimberly Renee Parks was arrested Thursday and booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of felony burglary and elder abuse because of two of the victims' ages. She's being held on $5,000 bail and was expected to be arraigned Monday.

On Thursday at 1:30 p.m., a patient at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital told police about a previous theft.

An investigation revealed that three patients' wallets had been stolen while they were in their rooms.

Authorities were led to a residence in the 500 block of North 6th Street in Banning, where Parks was taken into custody.

Two wallets and a camera belonging to the victims were discovered, police said.

In a statement, hospital officials said they were "cooperating with local law enforcement agencies on the ongoing investigation into the alleged thefts."
