2 Men Wanted In Car-To-Car Shooting On 91 Freeway In Bellflower

BELLFLOWER (CBSLA.com) —  An investigation was underway Friday into a shooting that left two people injured on the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway.

The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. Thursday, just west of the Bellflower Boulevard exit, the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities said the shooting occurred after a collision and altercation between the occupants of a silver 2013 Chrysler 300 and a gray 2003 Honda.

"The male Hispanics opened fire with some sort of firearm on the occupants of the silver Chrysler," Capt. Daniel Minor said. "We are not quite sure when the gunfire occurred, it could have happened immediately after the first impact, or it could have happened after the second impact when both cars, one of them collided into the center divider and the other collided into the sound wall."

One victim was shot multiple times and was in critical condition. His passenger was in stable condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the elbow, the CHP said. Both were transported for treatment to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.

The suspects fled the scene and were picked up in another vehicle, CHP officers said.

All lanes of the 91 Freeway were shut down for an investigation, but were reopened around 12:45 a.m. Friday.

A description of the outstanding suspects was not released.

CHP asks anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at (323)644-9550.
