Summertime in California always brings lots of great ways to spend time with the whole family. The Ventura County Fair runs from July 31 through Aug. 11, lighting up the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Since 1875, this huge fair has been a popular destination for people from all over the state of California. Grab the whole family and head out to enjoy this great summertime treat.
The theme for the 2013 Fair is “Boots, Barns and Banjos,” with lots of fun filling up all 12 days with rides, food, music and more. Go for a ride on all the great carnival rides or just hang out and listen to all the music performances. Visit the barnyard and check out the small livestock––choose your favorite and see if the judges pick yours as the best in show.
Of course, the big attraction is the carnival midway, with plenty of games and rides for everyone to enjoy. And when it comes to carnival food, you won’t be disappointed. With cotton candy, deep-fried foods and all the expected carnival treats you could ask for, you’ll be in caloric heaven. However, there is also a great selection of gourmet foods and wines, making this more than your average carnival fare.
If you fill up on all the carnival food, it may not be a bad idea to register for the Ventura County Fair Parade 5K and One Mile Run/Walk. It’s a great way to burn off those extra calories. The parade starts things off, which then leads into the costume-themed race down Main Street. Race for yourself, or just bring a lawn chair and check out the fun costumes and cheer on your favorites.
Your trip to the Ventura Fairgrounds is sure to be a lot of fun, so bring all your friends and family with you. Make sure to head out in your 2013 GL350 SUV from Mercedes-Benz of Encino. You’ll have all the room you need for lots of company as you all enjoy the luxurious and comfortable drive to the Fair. Plus, after a long and active day, you’ll be so happy to enjoy this elegant SUV for the drive home.
