Missing Sierra Madre Sailor Found Safe And Sound

SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com) — A 65-year-old sailor who was reported missing Monday was found safe and sound.

John Hull was aboard his 15-foot sailboat, the Panda II, early Monday morning when he fell behind his group that was sailing from Los Alamitos to Two Harbors, officials said.

“Hull text messaged his daughter to inform her he was turning around and would be home later Tuesday afternoon.  When he did not return, she contacted the Long Beach Police Department,” Adam Eggers of the Coast Guard said.

Authorities used a helicopter and boat to search for Hull.

His daughter found Hull at a restaurant around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and he said he had no idea anyone was looking for him.
