Machete-Armed Suspect Barricades Himself For Hours Inside Koreatown Home

KOREATOWN (CBSLA.com) — A man armed with a machete barricaded himself for hours inside a Koreatown home Monday night.

The suspect was seen waving the weapon in the yard of a building in the 100 block of S. Serrano Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

When Los Angeles officers arrived on the scene, the suspect immediately went inside the structure.

The man surrendered to SWAT members around 7:30 p.m.

Authorities evacuated nearby residents and a Montessori school as a precaution during the incident.

Serrano was also closed down between First and Second streets.
