Uber's Ice Cream On-Demand Trucks Deliver Treats To Customers Friday

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!

The car service Uber is delivering ice cream to the doors of their loyal customers in Los Angeles and 33 other cities Friday.

To score the sweet treat, download the Uber app for iPhone or Android, request the "Ice Cream" option via the app, and "if a truck is available, you and your friends will be enjoying sweet treats and Uber swag within minutes," the company said.

The ice cream trucks will be on the road from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Demand for ice cream trucks will be very high and availability very limited. It may take multiple tries to find an available truck. Please be patient! We'll be working all day to deliver as much ice cream as possible," Uber said.

The trucks will be serving a six-pack of Carvel ice cream for $36. No cash is required as the ice cream will be charged directly to a user's Uber account.

The on-demand offering is in its second year. In 2012, the marketing ploy was so successful, the car service couldn't fulfill all of its requests.
