Katherine Jackson Testifies In Family's Wrongful Death Trial Against AEG

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Katherine Jackson took the stand Friday morning in the trial of her family's wrongful-death lawsuit against AEG Live.

Jackson filed the lawsuit against the promoter of her son Michael's "This Is It" 50 concert series in September 2010.

The pop star's three children, Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket are also listed as plaintiffs.

The matriarch of the Jackson family has been in court nearly every day since the trial began 12 weeks ago.

"I want to know what really happened to my son," she told jurors.

KCAL9's Randy Paige said Jackson also told jurors the ordeal of the trial has gotten to her.

"The most difficult thing is to sit in this court and listen to all the bad things they say about him. A lot of the things they said are not the truth, he's not here to speak for himself," she said.

The lawsuit contends AEG is liable for Jackson's 2009 death because it hired, retained or supervised Dr. Conrad Murray while the singer was prepping for his farewell tour.

Jackson died in his sleep after Murray allegedly administered a deadly dose of Propofol on June 25, 2009.

Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 and is currently serving time at the Men's Central Jail.

The plaintiff's case claims that AEG pushed Murray to administer Propofol to Jackson so that he would be rested for rehearsals.

AEG contends it was Jackson who requested the entertainment company hire Murray as his personal physician.

Katherine Jackson's testimony will wrap up the plaintiffs' case in the trial.

She is the fourth member of the Jackson family to take the stand.

Michael Jackson's oldest son, 16-year-old Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. --known as Prince, testified last month.

The late singer's nephews, Taj and T.J., have also testified.

Jackson's daughter, 15-year-old Paris, remains hospitalized following a June 5 suicide attempt.

Miss Jackson told the jury she's had the hardest time missing her father.

"She went to the morgue and put half of a heart necklace around her father's neck then put (the other half) on her. She wanted to go where daddy was," Jackson said.
