1 Killed, 1 Suspect Believed To Be At Large In Westlake Officer-Involved Shooting

WESTLAKE (CBSLA.com) — One person was killed and a second suspect believed to be at large after an officer involved shooting Tuesday evening.

The incident took place just after 9p.m. near the corner of Pico Blvd. and Bonnie Brae St.

Police confirmed that a man was shot and killed by a plainclothes officer reportedly conducting surveillance in the area after he was allegedly fired on from a vehicle.

Several other suspects reported ran into a church where an estimated 50 people were already inside.

A large police presence was reported at the scene, with a perimeter established around the intersection and the area closed to traffic.

Officers called by bullhorn for those inside to exit and line up against the wall outside the building.

The surrounding area remained closed as police pursued a possible second suspect. Police said the incident is believed to be gang related.

No other details were immediately available.
