Search For Missing 71-Year-Old Woman Escalates Into Homicide Investigation

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — What was the search for a missing 71-year old woman has escalated into a homicide investigation.

Catherine Sutton was reported missing from her Murrieta home just after 10 p.m. on Sunday night.

Investigators called her disappearance suspicious after speaking with neighbors and covering the home.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the woman's disappearance.

Neighbors report that Sutton lived in the house by herself for ten years, and was visited frequently by her grandchildren.

"She is a nice lady," neighbor Fernando Betanzos said. "She lives by herself. She works for the school district."

Police report that they are actively searching for her body.
