PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — Four Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were injured early Friday morning when their patrol car crashed into a power pole in East Los Angeles.

The accident happened around 12:50 a.m. in the 9700 block of Passons Boulevard in Pico Rivera as they were responding to an emergency call, officials said.

“As their patrol vehicle approached the intersection of Mines Avenue, the driver of the black and white patrol car observed an approaching vehicle and swerved to avoid a collision,” Lt. Andrew Meyer said. “The driver lost control of the patrol vehicle and collided into a telephone pole.”

All four victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Two deputies were treated for minor injuries and released.
