HEMET (CBSLA.com) — Animal activists are putting pressure on Fish and Wildlife authorities to help a coyote in trouble in the Inland Empire.

The animal has recently been spotted around east Hemet with a heavy metal chain around its neck.

Activists have posted photos and video of the coyote online and asked the public to report sightings so rangers can find the animal, tranquilize it, and remove the chain.

Tips can be reported to Fish and Wildlife’s Cal Tip hotline at 1 (888)334-2258.
