2 Construction Workers Injured After Getting Trapped In Trench In Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — Two construction workers were injured Tuesday morning after being trapped in a trench in the San Fernando Valley.

Rescue workers responded around 6:50 a.m. to the 21000 block of Nordhoff Street, officials said.

The men were working with heavy equipment to remove concrete panels when one worker, in his 30s, got trapped under a panel about four feet down, according to the LAFD.

The second worker became trapped briefly when he attempted to free the first man but was able to get out of the trench before officials arrived.

Firefighters freed the worker around 7:11 a.m.

Both were transported to Northridge Hospital in fair and good condition.
