With rapidly growing advancements in technology, it is easy to forget some of the biggest and best forms of entertainment of the past. The panorama was most popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, immersing the viewer in a 360 degree world that was unlike their own. It was a popular way to escape for a little while and imagine yourself visiting a foreign land. Today, the Velaslavasay Panorama is still in operation on West 24th Street, so you can take a short drive to this impressive piece of history and see for yourself that it is still a highly entertaining way to spend a little time.

A visit to the Velaslavasay Panorama showcases a fully immersive entertainment experience. Most of the exhibits will include sound and movement in the panorama, almost like a 360-degree movie screen. The current exhibit is Effulgence of the North, an exploration of the bright horizon to the north, including the amazing Aurora Borealis. This 35-minute cycle shifts subtly with sound to help the immersive experience, sure to draw you into a whole new world. It’s a sensory delight that you simply must take some time to experience.

Cap off your visit to the Velaslavasay Panorama with a stroll through the Garden and Grounds. With lots of beautiful lush and tropical plants it is reminiscent of the beautiful 19th century pleasure gardens and a perfect way to relax before your drive home. You’ll see a huge variety of succulents, carnivorous plants, banana trees and so much more. Also, be sure to check the event calendar as the Velaslavasay Panorama is host to a lot of different fun events and talks from local artists, scientists, films, lectures and more.

Enjoy your drive to the Velaslavasay Panorama by setting out in your E250 Sport Sedan from Mercedes-Benz of Encino. You’ll enjoy a luxurious and comfortable drive as you set out for a few hours of fun and relaxation with your friends and family.
