2 Dead In Hit-And-Run Crash Following Possible Street Race

SAN GORGONIO PASS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say two people were killed Sunday morning after a pickup truck ran a red light and slammed into a second vehicle during a hit-and-run crash in the San Gorgonio Pass.

CHP dispatchers received a call at 11:43 a.m. about the collision that occurred on the westbound lanes of Domenigoni Parkway and Leon Road.

Three people suffered major injuries, and four were pinned in the wreckage, according to the CHP.

One person was flown to a hospital while three other people were taken  by ambulance to a second hospital, said Mark Annas, a Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson. A county animal control officer was also called to help with two injured dogs, Annas added.

A witness told CHP officers that a blue sport utility vehicle and a white Toyota truck were racing before the crash occurred.
