LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a female driver is critical and a male passenger is in serious condition following a Saturday afternoon crash.

The woman slammed into a pole at 2700 N. Sepulveda Boulevard just before 3:55 p.m.

The female ended up being trapped inside the vehicle.

“The patient was extricated using the jaws of life,” said Katherine Main, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Both driver and her passenger remain hospitalized.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
