Police Pursue Reckless Driver Who Reportedly Threw Weapon Out Car Window

PARAMOUNT (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Friday evening pursued a reckless driving suspect police said tossed a weapon out a car window during their chase.

The suspect was originally wanted for reckless driving, said officials.

During the pursuit, police said the driver threw a weapon out of his car window.

They did not specify what the weapon was.

Police tried to use spike strips but it appeared the driver dodged the strips.

At least five police vehicles pursued the suspect. The LAPD followed from a police chopper, as well.

After a second spike strip attempt, authorities also attempted a PITT maneuver.

After about 50 minutes, the suspect stopped his vehicle. A dozen officers were seen, weapons drawn, trained on the suspect.

The man was taken into custody without further incident.
