Man Dies After Being Dragged 75 Feet In Compton Hit-And-Run Crash

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday were searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian in Compton.

The 65-year-old victim was struck at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and dragged for approximately 75 feet at the intersection of Alameda and Oak streets, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Witnesses say the driver failed to stop and continued northbound on Alameda Street before turning onto Pine Street.

The suspect's vehicle has been described as a white sedan — possibly a Pontiac or a Chevy — that sustained significant damage in the crash.

Officials are checking with nearby businesses that may have captured the incident on surveillance cameras.

The victim's identity has not been released.

Anyone with information was asked to contact authorities.
