Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 2)

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Aside from a little less marine layer, the same basic atmospheric conditions we had yesterday exist once again today.

There is still some moisture wrapping around the monster ridge of high pressure that has been scorching the Southland. A small threat of a thunderstorm or passing shower this morning also exists.

Temperatures will still be quite hot and the humidity levels will be high as well. However, aside for some mountain communities, the excessive heat warnings have cancelled.

The high pressure will break down a bit on Wednesday to provide a little relief.

By Thursday morning, we should see the return of the marine layer and that means I think the Fourth of July should be quite nice. The cooling trend will continue into Saturday.

If we can make it past today, we will have turned a corner on this memorable heat wave.

Basin - mid to upper 80s
Beaches - upper 70s
Valleys - near 100
Mountains - low to mid 80s
Deserts - 105 to 110
