YUCAIPA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities announced Saturday the fatal wounding of a suspect in a deputy-involved shooting.

Officials said the unnamed suspect struggled with deputies.

Sheriff’s responded to a 911 call — around 4:40 p.m. — about a man trying to force a woman to go to a bank with him near Yucaipa Boulevard and 3rd Street.

Deputies spotted the suspect’s car and they said a struggled ensued when they tried to detain the man. They also said the suspect tried to wrest a deputy’s guns away.

The suspect — who reportedly tried to reach into his waistband for a weapon — was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

Two deputies reportedly suffered minor injuries.

An investigation into the shooting is underway.
