We have high pressure building in and centering over Southern California. The intense heat will really kick in on Saturday and Sunday.
The National Weather Service will be issuing an excessive heat warning for the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley, High Desert and Mountain communities, which will be in effect from Friday morning to Sunday evening.
There is also an excessive heat warning in effect for the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley from Saturday morning to Sunday night.
However, given the latest look at the forecast models, the advisories could be extended.
Highs inland will range between 101 to 107 degrees; the high desert could reach 112 degrees. It looks like there will be some relief for the 4th of July.
