Deputies Arrest Man For Attempted Kidnapping Of Girl, 6

ARCADIA PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities announced the arrest Sunday of a 33-year-old man they said attempted to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from Arcadia Park.

The girl was playing with friends in a picnic area near the softball fields around 3:35 p.m. Sunday when the man allegedly grabbed her and tried to run away with her.

Sheriff's Deputies said they arrested Jason Macklin Dell as the would-be kidnapper.

Officials said the girl, a resident of West Covina, was able to get away from Dell after he pulled her about 100 feet.

The girl screamed,  ran to her mother and told her what allegedly happened.

The alleged victim's mother called 911. She also confronted Dell and kept him in the park until Arcadia Police arrived.

The girl was unhurt.

Dell is described as a transient. After being arrested, he was charged with kidnapping and child annoyance.

He was booked at the Temple Sheriff Station and is being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
