LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County Friday recorded its largest daily increase for a gallon of gas since February, up more than an average of 5 cents to $4.104.

The average price has risen for 13 consecutive days and is 9.5 cents more than one week ago, the AAA reported. The price of a gallon of gas is currently 17.9 cents greater than one year ago.
The Orange County average price Friday also rose by its largest amount since Feb. 2 — 5.7 cents to $4.088.

Prices in OC has increased for 14 consecutive days and is 20.8 cents greater than one year ago.

Higher prices stem from increased wholesale gasoline prices caused by shutdowns of refineries for maintenance, which reduce the supply, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California.
