Body Found Inside Trash Can In Brea

BREA (CBSLA.com) — A body was found in a trash can in Brea Friday afternoon.

A driver noticed the green plastic trash can on the side of Brea Canyon Road for about seven days. Around 3 p.m., the same motorist finally stopped to investigate, according to Brea police Lt. Jerry Brakebill.

"Someone driving by saw the trash can and apparently stopped to see what it was all about, opened it up, and, when they realized there was a body inside, called us," Brakebill said.

Homicide detectives are looking for clues they hope may line the dirt leading up to the plastic container.

"Vehicles can pull off the roadway, so we want to obviously look at the area to see if there are tire tracks or something," said Brakebill.

The race, gender and age of the deceased person are unknown.

Brea Canyon from Central Avenue to Tonner Canyon Road was closed during the investigation.
