Pick Your Own Fruit And Veggies At Underwood Farms
By Deb Flomberg
About 50 minutes west of Los Angeles is Underwood Family Farms Moorepark Farm Center. It is a fun family-friendly farm that is perfect for teaching a bit about agriculture and learning the farming process. Bring the kids and pick your own fruit and veggies, participate in the different harvest festivals, and get to know the real families behind your neighborhood farms.
Your kids will love getting to spend a day out on the farm. You’ll grab a wagon to pull behind you as you roam the farm finding all the best and most fresh fruit and veggies to take home. On the weekends, it is made a bit easier with a tractor ride around the fields, and then you simply bring back your pickings and pay per pound. There is something really quite enjoyable about picking your own fruit and veggies, and your whole family is sure to have a great time.
You’ll want to visit Moorpark Farm Center several times throughout the year, as different foods grow best at different times throughout the seasons. There is also a constantly rotating calendar of events, making a trip to this farm a fun time no matter when you visit. From the fall harvest to Christmas time on the farm or even Easter or the Antique Tractor Weekend, you’ll find a lot of reasons to keep coming back. There is even an annual festival with live music and lots of other entertainment to enjoy. Make sure to take the kids by the Animal Center as well. They can visit the chicken house and see all the farm animals, and the younger ones can even enjoy a pony ride.
Make the drive to Underwood Family Farms even better by setting out in the 2013 S400 Hybrid Sedan from Mercedes-Benz of Encino. You’ll love the safe and comfortable ride with plenty of room for your whole family, plus there is lots of space for the bags and bags of fresh fruits and veggies you’ll be bringing home. Enjoy your Mercedes-Benz and a trip to Underwood Farms.
