America's Largest Modern Design Event Returns To LA Convention Center

More than 30,000 design enthusiasts are expected to attend Dwell on Design 2013 at the Los Angeles Convention Center next weekend, which showcases new design ideas and products, highly-respected speakers, exhibitions, and home tours. Design innovation abounds among 2,000 creative products from more than 400 exhibitors. The massive exhibit space is divided into zones, such as Dwell Outdoor, the Tech Zone and the modern family lounge, to name a few.

Both trade professionals and consumers will appreciate the engaging and immersive environment for finding design solutions that are fun, smart and sophisticated. Visitors can attend panel discussions, watch demonstrations and even learn how to build a tree house. They can also take a green car for a test drive and participate in a live design competition.

Home Tours

Now is your chance to visit specially selected homes and see innovative modern architecture on the Dwell Home Tours – a must for passionate design buffs, who will get an up-close view of several super-cool dwellings. (Go ahead and pretend it's yours, for a moment anyway.) These unique homes reflect the rich diversity found throughout Los Angeles, with three neighborhoods being showcased this year: Westside, East Side/downtown, and the Canyons/Valley. A portion of the home tour ticket proceeds will go to non-profit partner, Architecture for Humanity. Visitors can also attend Meet the Architects Night and listen to the architects speak about the challenges and successes they had in building the homes featured on the tour.

Special Exhibits and Products

Our great state is golden and rocks with style at 100% California – one of three special exhibitions at Dwell on Design, featuring textiles, furniture, and products by outstanding local artisans.

One of the many new products featured is the Sinous Floor Lamp by Marcus Papay. Sinuous lamps are a blend of modern aesthetics and vintage forms. The fiberglass-spun shades are made with fiberglass strands and Entropy resin, a sustainable renewable material that is derived from bio-refineries.

The A+R Pop Up shop will be at Dwell on Design once again this year with the latest specialty products from around the globe making their U.S. debut.

The Zipp Wireless Sound System by Libratone is wrapped in changeable Italian wool and streams tunes directly from your music device. Up to eight hours of battery time and the patented FullRoom™ technology creates a 360-degree sound experience.

"Dwell on Design is a true festival of ideas and innovation," said Dwell Media President Michela O'Connor Abrams. "We've worked hard to create a unique, immersive, and thoroughly unforgettable modern design experience. And based on the reaction this year, we feel that we're just hitting our stride as the fastest growing design event in the country."
