Sheriff's Detectives Investigating Hate Crime In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Monday were investigating a hate crime committed over the weekend in South Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, a 28-year-old man awoke Sunday morning to find that his vehicle had been vandalized while parked in the 2100 block of West 108th Street.

The car's windows were smashed and tires were flattened, officials said.

"Additionally, the victim said the suspects etched the word 'gay' on the sides and roof of the vehicle," Lt. Jeff Adams said. "The vehicle was parked on the street in front of the victim's house when this incident occurred."

Anyone with information regarding the incident was urged to call the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station at (323)820-6700.
