Principal During Miramonte Abuse Scandal Reassigned

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The principal of Miramonte Elementary School has been reassigned following a string of abuse cases linked to the school.

Martin Sandoval will serve as principal of President Avenue Elementary in Harbor City, according to district officials.

Sandoval oversaw Miramonte Elementary for three years when Mark Berndt was arrested on suspicion of abusing nearly two dozen students.

Berndt has not gone to trial yet.

He pleaded not guilty and is being held on $23 million bail.
