CSU LA Students Design Eco-Friendly Car, Win 2nd Place In EcoCAR2 Competition

Eco Team1

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — Could you design a car?

Students from California State University Los Angeles' EcoCAR2 Team stopped by KCAL9 Thursday to discuss the competition and show viewers the car they designed!

The team came in second place and won $7,000 in the EcoCAR2: Plugging into the Future competition, which challenges 15 universities across North America to reduce the environmental impact of a Chevrolet Malibu without compromising performance, safety and consumer acceptability.

The students are a part of a three-year collegiate engineering competition and the only program of its kind, which aims to offer an unparalleled hands-on, real-world experience to educate the next generation of automotive engineers.
