Orange Man Shot Dead After Allegedly Confronting Officer With Knife

ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — A police officer fatally shot an Orange man who allegedly confronted him with a knife early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to reports of a man with a knife at a home in the 2100 block of North Shaffer Street, according to Sgt. Fred Lopez of the Orange Police Department.

When the officer arrived on the scene, he was approached by the unidentified 54-year-old suspect, said Lopez.

The officer, a 10-year veteran, was forced to shoot the man just after 2 a.m.

The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The cop was uninjured.
