PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — A 5-year-old boy who was not wearing a seat belt was killed when an SUV his brother was driving overturned in Palmdale, authorities said Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday on 25th Street and Avenue Q-4.

Fabian Pineda, 19, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer north on 25th Street East when the SUV rolled on its ride side, according to a preliminary investigation.

Pineda’s brother, Isaac, was ejected out of the passenger side window as the car overturned, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pineda and his 14-year-old brother, who was also in the vehicle, were transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries before being released to their parents.

The investigation is ongoing.
