Couple Wanted For Alleged Kidnapping-Robbery Of 5 People At Santa Monica Motel

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Monica police are seeking the public's help in finding two suspects who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping and robbery of five people at a motel.

Around 11:30 p.m. April 21, police responded to the Seaview Motel at 1760 Ocean Avenue regarding a disturbance in one of the rooms.

When officers arrived on the scene, they saw several suspects fleeing on foot.

Four of the suspects were taken into custody and four handguns were recovered.

Four other people, however, were able to escape.

Detectives were later able to identify two of the suspects who left the scene—Sergio Raul Gutierrez, 26, of Oxnard, and his girlfriend, Melissa Lizeth Castillo Gomez, 23, of Los Angeles.

Gutierrez was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Gomez was described as Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Warrants have been issued for their arrest, and their bail has been set at $2.35 million.
