Arrest Warrant Issued For Woman Accused Of Lingerie Store Arson

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA.com) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman accused of attempting to burn down a Dana Point lingerie store, after she failed to show up to court Friday.

On Oct. 2, Jennifer Reneee Colwell, 42, allegedly doused a pillow case filled with lingerie with gasoline, set it on fire, and threw it into Intimate Obsessions, where the burning lingerie had been purchased by an ex-boyfriend.

The warrant was issued after Colwell failed to appear in court Friday on charges of felony arson of property, according to Deputy District Attorney John Christl.

Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department said Colwell was reportedly "distraught" over the failed relationship at the time of the attempted arson.

A sheriff's deputy witnessed the incident, and firefighters extinguished the blaze before it spread to other structures.
